AFD and SSAP launched "A Planet for Life Series 2010"

On July 11th 2010, the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Chinese Social Sciences Academic Press (SSAP) organized a conference in Beijing to launch the Chinese version of the book "A Planet for Life 2010, Cities steering towards sustainability".

The book is a part of a series of annual publications on sustainable development prepared under the scientific leadership of leading figures in the field of sustainable development: Pierre Jacquet, Executive Director of Strategy and Chief Economist of AFD, Laurence Tubiana, Director of IDDRI, and Rajendra K. Pachauri, Chairman of the IPCC and General Director of the Indian Energy and Resources Institute.

Energy efficiency training supplied by AFD to 14 Chinese banks

From 12th to 14th May 2010, with the support of four Chinese ministries (National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Construction, and Ministry of Industry), AFD and the French Fund for Global Environment (FFEM) organized in Hainan province the third training session for Chinese banks on green energy issues. The first two training sessions were held in France and in China in 2008.

Presentation of AFD in China

AFD’s strategy and operational perspectives

Global public goods – climate, biodiversity, pandemics – form the basis of the AFD’s strategic framework in China, areas of interest that lie at the crossroads of the two countries relations. The joint declaration on climate change released by presidents Sarkozy and Hu Jintao during the state visit to Beijing in November 2007, demonstrates that this topic is high on both their agendas.
