AFD in China

In December 2003, AFD (French Development Agency) received a mandate from the French government to extend bilateral cooperative relations to China. With the objective of cooperating to protect the planet, the French government authorised AFD to extend its work to China. Moreover, as a French operator, AFD is committed to supporting projects with a significant local impact and that promote French know-how. The signing of a first credit agreement between AFD and the Chinese Ministry of Finance in April 2004 marked the beginning of this partnership. AFD opened an agency in Beijing in July 2004 and signed a framework agreement in October 2004 with the Chinese Ministry of Finance in the presence of presidents Jacques Chirac and Hu Jintao. Today the Beijing agency numbers 16 members of staff.
